This class was the first time most of us read our speeches out loud. First thoughts about this was that I was a little nervous to share my speech, it wasn’t (and still isn’t) quite where I would like it to be and we were also in a random group so it wasn’t like you could buddy up with a friend for reassurance. However, after reading it out loud and timing it I was actually a little proud of myself. I was pretty concerned about it not being long enough and was pleasantly surprised when it was. And everyone in my group, as well as I’m sure all the others, was very supportive and mostly positive when giving feedback. Some examples of the things I was told I could work on were eye contact and energy. I agree, I don’t have my speech memorized and definitely need to not read it like a script. I personally think I need to add a little more backbone to my writing and also end it on a better note. Some positive feedback that I got was that I had a good intro and my group liked how I included personal stories. I was also told by someone who was in my group twice that the second time I read it I sounded more confident in my words. Overall I think it was a successful group feedback.
