Journal 10 (final thoughts)

Now that the lone wolf speech is complete I can honestly say that a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The process of writing it and peer editing it went relatively smoothly for me, but preparing to present it kind of got in my head. For the most part it went pretty smoothly for me, there was one part at the end though where I kind of began to choke. I was able to save myself kind of and finish on a strong note. That choking could have easily been prevented if I had written some note cards for myself but I wasn’t sure about needing them or not. Now I know that it is better to be safe than sorry for next time. I did reach the time limit, I felt as though my pace wasn’t too rushed and my volume was loud enough. Despite the fact that I was anxious to be up there. This project was my first act of public speaking so far this year and overall I dont think it went as bad as it could have. Looking back at the peer review process, I really think it was helpful because we were able to hear other people’s speeches and see how theirs were different from our own. This is beneficial because even though most of us wrote about the same topic, the speeches were kind of written differently which made it really interesting to listen to when we were all presenting our final drafts. I would consider this first project a success because even if my presentation itself wasn’t perfect it at least gave me something to look back on in the future.
