Nyu-abu-dhabi-sun-waves-discovery
This first article is about a researcher at NYU that discovered something that challenges the current laws of physics. It was written by Nicole Lu on April 8th. The researchers at Abu Dhabi center for space science discovered a set of high frequency waves that defy the previously understood laws of physics. The three researchers’ names are Chris Hanson, Shraven Hanasoge and Katepalli Sreenivasan. The fact that they found out this kind of information that can so strongly affect our future shows how intense their research studies are. They found this information out when initially looking for large cells in the sun. When they thought they had found those cells, they then looked closer and realized that the sun waves were moving in a way that they previously thought was impossible. Researcher Hansoge said that they have no reason yet to explain why the waves are acting like this, but they can exclude a few possibilities such as gravity, magnetism and convection. This new found study has sparked a lot of interest around NYU and they hope to keep looking into this as they go forward.
Grey-art-gallery-nyu-reopening
This second article is about an art gallery at NYU and it was written by Isebella Armus on April 5th. The article describes the Grey Art Gallery as an essential visit at NYU. This exhibit includes things like early 20th century European pieces to the Iranian avantgarde, showing the museum’s diversity. During COVID-19 the exhibit had closed its doors for the public and it hadn’t been active in almost two years. When it closed, that included closing all the 6000 pieces that it had to show off. As it reopened, their newest selection is called ‘Mostly New: Selections From the NYU Art Collection. As of right now the museum is open strictly to NYU students, faculty and staff, where they can visit anytime from now to June 17th 2022. The article continues by describing some of the pieces of art aht you could find at this exhibit but I’ll spare you all those little details. One other cool thing is that the museum isn’t afraid to name drop and you can find polaroids from Andy Warhol and Cindy Sherman’s transformative pieces. A very interesting place to look into for sure.
