Nyu-steinhardt-ashley-xie-rooted-fare-sauce
This first article that I chose talks about how NYU alums business partners with immigrant chefs. It was written by Jules Roscoe on March 2nd 2022. The article starts off by talking about how Ashely Xie, who is a NYU graduate, wants to help people be able to enhance the flavors of their dishes. Her business, Rooted Fair, works with immigrant chefs to help them get their sauce recipes into stores. She started this business because a lot of chefs don’t have the time to market their sauces themselves so she does it for them. Upon impact of Covid 19, Xie continued to work on her business branding along with working at her aunt’s Cup of Noodle shop. Together her and aunt worked together and created their own variety of chinese sauces ranging from roasted peanut dan-dan to black sesame crunchy butter. They even created do it yourself kits for buyers to make their own sauces and sold them for lunar new year. Xies business has helped many immigrant chefs make some money and what she is doing is essentially welcoming them across the country.
Campus-safety-increases-security-assaults
This article sort of relates back to some of the ones that I have previously chosen. It is about the increase of security relating to several attacks on campus and it was written by Krisitan Burt and Rachel Cohen. After a string of assaults on campus, NYU is implementing more security cameras, better lighting and an increase of present police. This choice was made after one man assaulted seven women on February 27th. This man is now facing seven counts of crime assault and hate crime attempted assault as well as seven accounts of aggravated harassment. Throughout the days, more and more victims were being attacked and with that came the realization that security had to be improved. They are now trying to have officers actively responding to these incidents by flagging the student reports, they are also trying to create an alert system. It is definitely a positive sign that they are now taking these issues seriously and trying to come up with solutions to the problem.
